Odor and Related VOC Emission Control Strategies for Large Scale Compost Operations

For turned-windrow composting operations:
For compost operations using the turned-windrow method, CV Compost has partnered with the manufacturer of a very cost-effective method to reduce unpleasant odors and associated VOC emissions. Instead of masking odors with mist or fogging systems that are expensive both to install and to operate, this method utilizes a combination of simple operational modifications (primarily reduced turning frequency) and a proprietary additive which is specifically designed to both encourage the growth of beneficial microbes while discouraging the growth of microbes that produce the unpleasant odors and related VOC emissions. This technologically advanced and environmentally safe additive is simply mixed with water and then sprayed onto feedstocks and/or active piles to achieve rapid and measurable reductions in odors and related VOC emissions. Additional benefits of this technology include improved product quality and reduced production costs since reduced turning frequency also significantly reduces labor, equipment wear, and fuel consumption.

For static-aerated (forced air) composting operations:
For compost operations using the static-aerated method, CV Compost has partnered with the manufacturer of a micro-porous, multi-laminate compost cover that is very similar to the GORE fabric. While this cover is also used in combination with POSTIVE-flow forced aeration like the GORE cover, UN-like the GORE cover, it can be purchased with OR withOUT any other related equipment such as a "fleece roller" or aeration system components.
